COD Women’s Cross Country runs at Central Park Classic

COD ran in their third event of the 2018 season at Central Park in Huntington Beach for the Golden West Central Park Classic, where the team had finishers of 30th, 54th, 92nd and 97th place on the 5k course.

With only four runners, the Roadrunners did not qualify for a team score, but placed well individually among a crowded field. Saddleback College won the event with 29 points and a Saddleback College runner grabbed first place individually, with a time of 20:02.23.

Grabbing the top spot for Desert in Huntington Beach was freshman Jasmin Gallegos (Indio Shadow Hills), collecting a 30th place finish and a time of 21:52.32.

Sophomore Brandie Lopez (La Quinta H.S.) finished 54th, collecting a time of 23:11.32 and freshman Yesenia Velazquez-Hernandez (Thermal Desert Mirage), who crossed the finish line at 28:06.51, good enough for 92nd place.

Freshman Gladys Blanco (Rancho Mirage H.S.) wrapped up the top four for COD with a time of 30:20.58, finishing in 97th place.
