COD Women’s Cross Country finishes 4th at Coach Downey Classic, Gallegos finishes 4th

COD ran in their fourth event of the 2018 season at Morley Field Sports Complex – Balboa Park in San Diego for the Coach Jerry Downey Cross Country Classic, where the team finished 4th overall on the 5k course. 

The Roadrunners finished with 87 points, grabbing the top spot for Desert in San Diego was freshman Jasmin Gallegos (Indio Shadow Hills), collecting an 4th place finish and a time of 21:56.

Sophomore Brandie Lopez (La Quinta H.S.) finished 11th, collecting her best time of 2018, with a time of 22:52, dropping her previous best by one second and freshman Yesenia Velazquez-Hernandez (Thermal Desert Mirage) crossed the finish line at 27:58, well enough for 22nd place.

Freshman Gladys Blanco (Rancho Mirage H.S.) wrapped up a 24th place finish with a time of 30:34 and freshman Elena Moro (Thermal Coachella Valley) wrapped up the top five for COD with a time of 34:51, in her first race of 2018, finishing in 26th place.
