COD Women’s Cross Country finishes 6th at PCAC Finals, sends two to SoCal Finals

COD ran in their final team event of the 2018 season at California State University, San Bernardino for the Pacific Coast Conference Championship, where the team finished sixth overall on the 5k course.

The Roadrunners finished with 130 points, with freshman Jasmin Gallegos (Indio Shadow Hills) placing ninth overall with her personal best of 2018, 20:31 and making the All-Confernece team. Sophomore Brandie Lopez (La Quinta H.S.) grabbing a 19th place finish while breaking her previous record of 2018 with a time of 22:07, sending both to the finals at Don Knabe Community Regional Park in Cerritos.

Freshman Yesenia Velazquez-Hernandez (Thermal Desert Mirage) collected a 33rd finish with a time of 27:27, while freshman Elena Moro (Thermal Coachella Valley) finished close behind, breaking her previous record by an amazing 2:37, taking a time of 27:52 and finishing 34th.

Freshman Gladys Blanco (Rancho Mirage H.S.) wrapped up the event for the Roadrunners while also taking her best time of the 2018 season at 28:36 and grabbing a 35th place finish.
