COD Women’s Cross Country finishes 4th at Palomar Invitational, 3 finish in top-20

COD opened the 2019 season at Guajome Regional Park in Oceanside for the Palomar Invitational, where the team finished 4th overall on the 5 kilometer course.

The Roadrunners finished with 108 points, grabbing the top spot for Desert in Oceanside was sophomore Naibe Ruelas (Indio H.S.), collecting a 13th place finish and a time of 21:22.

Right on Ruelas' heels, eight seconds back was sophomore Jasmin Gallegos (Indio Shadow Hills), who finished 16th, dropped 37 seconds from her previous course best, collecting a time of 21:30 and freshman Stephany Ramirez-Lopez (Cathedral City H.S.) crossed the finish line at 22:47, well enough for 18th place.

Freshman Natalia Johnson (Indio Shadow Hills) collected a 23rd place finish with a time of 24:20 and freshman Christina Peters (Cathedral City H.S.) wrapped up the top five for COD with a time of 29:41, finishing in 38th place.

Freshman Jacqueline Garcia Rodriguez (Indio H.S.) and sophomore Gladys Blanco (Rancho Mirage H.S.) finished 39th and 43rd respectively for the Roadrunners on the afternoon.
