COD Women’s Cross Country finishes 17th at Palomar Invitational, 3 finish in top-70

COD entered their second event of the 2019 season at Mission Bay Park in San Diego for the Southern California Championships Preview Meet, where the team finished 17th overall on the 5 kilometer course.

The Roadrunners finished with 421 points, grabbing the top spot for Desert in San Diego was sophomore Naibe Ruelas (Indio H.S.), collecting a 51st place finish and a time of 22:16.2.

Right on Ruelas' heels, 1.3 seconds back was sophomore Jasmin Gallegos (Indio Shadow Hills), who finished 52nd, collecting a time of 22:17.5 and freshman Stephany Ramirez-Lopez (Cathedral City H.S.) crossed the finish line at 23:13.4, well enough for 68th place.

Freshman Natalia Johnson (Indio Shadow Hills) collected a 119th place finish with a time of 25:48.3 and freshman Jacqueline Garcia Rodriguez (Indio H.S.) wrapped up the top five for COD with a time of 27:59.0, finishing in 131st place.

Freshman Christina Peters (Cathedral City H.S.) and freshman Ireland Olson (Indio Cedar Life Academy) finished 138th and 140th respectively for the Roadrunners on the afternoon.

Sophomore Gladys Blanco (Rancho Mirage H.S.) grabbed a time of 32:08.7 and freshman Maddisonn Covington (Rancho Mirage H.S.) crossed the finish line with a time of 35:17.1. Freshman Jennifer Avila (Indio H.S.) finished with a time of 37:04.3.
