COD Women’s Cross Country finishes 3rd at Coach Downey XC Classic

COD had four of five finishers collect new season bests as the Roadrunners entered their 4th event at Morley Field in San Diego for the Coach Downey XC Classic where the team finished 3rd.

Desert finished with 86 points, the first Roadrunner to cross the line was sophomore Naibe Ruelas (Indio H.S.) in 5th, with a time of 21:02, dropping nearly 17 seconds off of her season best.

Crossing the line after her was sophomore Jasmin Gallegos (Indio Shadow Hills) in 9th place, with a time of 21:40, beating her season best time by 26 seconds. Freshman Stephany Ramirez-Lopez (Cathedral City H.S.) finished 12th, collecting a time of 22:16.

Freshman Natalia Johnson (Indio Shadow Hills) took 23rd, with a time of 23:46, also beating her personal season best by 27 seconds and wrapping things up for the Roadrunners was freshman Jacqueline Garcia Rodriguez (Indio H.S.) collected 37th place, dropping eight seconds of her season best with a time of 26:45.

Crossing the line with a time of 27:21 was Freshman Christina Peters (Cathedral City H.S.) and also freshman Jennifer Avila (Indio H.S.) finishing with a time of 31:52. Wrapping up the finishers for the Roadrunners was sophomore Gladys Blanco (Rancho Mirage H.S.) collecting the time of 32:01 and freshman Maddisonn Covington (Rancho Mirage H.S.) with 32:22.
