COD Athletics: CCCAA to postpone all events indefinitely

UPDATE: On April 1, the Riverside County Health Officer for the Department of Public Health, Dr. Cameron Kaiser, ordered that all schools, colleges and universities within Riverside County be closed until June 19. The decision by the county's public health officer extended an order that had been in effect since March 13, which ordered all schools closed until April 6. Four days later, on March 17, he extended that order to last until April 30.

ORIGINAL RELEASE: COD Athletic programs will postpone all of their athletic events beginning immediately according to an email issued by the CCCAA on March 12.

The President of the Board of Directors for the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA), Dr. Keith Curry, sent out an email to all Conference Commissioners stating in part: "Due to concerns over COVID-19, today, March 12, 2020, the California Community College Athletics Association (CCCAA) Board of Directors voted to postpone indefinitely, practices outside of regularly scheduled classes, and competition for all spring sports and those sports in their nontraditional seasons. The CCCAA Board understands the impact this will have on your student-athletes. The CCCAA will be working to minimize those impacts when it comes to student-athlete CCCAA eligibility, as well as at the four-year college level."
