COD Men’s Golf rolls to 4th PCAC event win, takes 1st at Murrieta

COD Men's Golf participated in their sixteenth event of the 2018 season at the tenth and final, regular season event for the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference, as the team finished in 1st place out of 5 teams. 

The Roadrunners sent six participants to its sixteenth event, which was hosted at the The Golf Club at Rancho California in Murrieta. Desert would finish in first place with 377 points, four strokes ahead of second place finisher, Palomar. The win moves the Roadrunners into a tie for first place with Palomar in the PCAC with the 36-hole Conference Finals on April 30th.

Sophomore Bobby Kim (South Korea) returned back to form, after missing three matches prior to returning on Monday and dropping nine-strokes off of his most recent effort by going for par, and leading the way for the Roadrunners, hitting a 72 on the afternoon.

Both sophomore Steven Wang (Taipei (TW) Municipal Nei-Hu Senior) and sophomore Samuel Berglund (Victoria (AUS) Rowville Secondary College) hit two-over, 74's and freshman Clement Heurtin (Nantes (FR) NDTA) hit a six-over 78.

Freshman Joseph Bogaert (Ghent (BE) Sint-Barbara College) would shoot a seven-over 79 and sophomore Tyler Smith (Palm Desert H.S.) who was participating in his first match since March 5th and his first match in Conference play, shot a strong eight-over, 80, to wrap things up for the Roadrunners.

Desert will make their next appearance at The Golf Club of California in Fallbrook on Monday, April 30 as they participate in the 36-hole Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC) Finals.
