COD Men’s Soccer struggles on Sophomore Day face-off with Spartans, 2-0

COD (6-9-4; 6-7-2) concluded their final home game of 2017, hosting the Oceanside MiraCosta Spartans (6-8-6; 6-5-4) and falling, 2-0.

The sophomore's being honored today were: defender Lionel Rosales (Palm Springs H.S.), midfielder Jesus Murillo Perez (Thermal Coachella Valley), forward Jose Silva (Cathedral City H.S.), midfielder Carlos Minero (Desert Hot Springs H.S.), defender Arvin Ocampo (Cathedral City H.S.) and midfielder Christian Raymundo (Desert Hot Springs H.S.).

The Roadrunners current record gives Desert their best finish since 2014, when the team went 6-14, and if the team can break their current four game losing streak and take a win at Palomar on Friday, it will give the Roadrunners their best record since a 7-7-2 season in 2012.

The Spartans grabbed their first goal in the 20th minute, which was a curving shot from a corner kick, which found the upper right hand corner of the net and the second goal came shortly their after in the 26th minute on a header in front of the net.
