COD (1-0; 1-0) opened up the 2019 season by travelling to San Diego City (0-2; 0-1), capturing their first win in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC), 8-1

In doubles play, the team of sophmore Kalman Boyd (Solana Beach Fusian Academy) and freshman Alex Kuperstein (Palm Desert H.S.) easily won in straight sets, 6-1 and 6-0.The team of freshman Manfred Vogt (Mexico City (MX) Universidad Panamerican Preparatoria) and freshman Sebastian Gomez Romero (Palm Desert H.S.) battled into an extra set, defeating San Diego City, 6-7, 6-0, and 10-5. Completing the sweep of the Knights in doubles play for Desert, the team of freshman Saar Rogovski (Rosh HaAyin (ISR) Menachem Begin) and freshman Syed Hosain (Abu Dhabi (UAE) GEMS American Academy) won in straight sets, 6-1 and 6-3.

In singles play, Boyd overwhelmed his opponent, winning 6-1 and 6-0, and Kuperstein easily won in straight sets, 6-0 and 6-2. Taking the next three matches, the Roadrunners defeated the San Diego City in straight sets, Vogt won 6-3 and 6-0, Rogovski won 6-2 and 6-4, and Hoasin won 6-3 and 6-0. Finishing singles play for the Roadrunners, freshman Nicolas Garcia (Palm Desert H.S.) fought hard, but lost in an extra set, 6-3, 4-6, and 8-10.

The next match for College of the Desert Men's Tennis will be at home on February 18th at 2p, where they will continue Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC) by hosting the San Diego Mesa Olympians.

College of the Desert defeated San Diego City College, 8-1 in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play at College of the Desert in Palm Desert.
