COD Men’s Cross Country finishes 26th at SoCal Preview

COD entered their second event of the 2019 season at Mission Bay Park in San Diego for the Southern California Championships Preview Meet, where the team finished 26th overall on the 4-mile course.

The Roadrunners finished with 689 points, grabbing the top spot for Desert in San Diego was freshman Dominick Jahnig (La Quinta, H.S.), collecting a 121st place finish and a time of 25:18.1.

Sophomore David Hernandez (La Quinta, H.S.) finished 131st, collecting a time of 25:55, which was 26 seconds better than the previous week and freshman Leonel Benitez (La Quinta Summit) crossed the finish line at 26:09.3, well enough for 137th place.

Right on Benitez's heels was freshman Esahi Bravo (Indio H.S.) wrapped up a 144th place finish with a time of 26:32.9 and sophomore Joseph Oropeza (Rancho Mirage H.S.) wrapped up the top five for COD with a time of 28:07.6, finishing in 156th place.

Sophomore Bronn Olson (Palm Desert H.S.) and freshman Albert Salomon (Rancho Mirage H.S.) finished 163rd and 169th respectively for the Roadrunners on the afternoon. Freshman Ezequiel Alvarez (Thermal Coachella Valley) finished with a time of 30:16.2.

Participating in the overflow individual race, freshman Sebastian Melendres (Palm Desert H.S.) grabbed 105th place with a time of 31:28.1 and sophomore Guillermo Blanco (Rancho Mirage H.S.) crossed the finish line with a time of 34:31.1, good enough for 109th place. Freshman Christian Carteno (Desert Hot Springs H.S.) finished with a time of 35:44.5.
