Luis Pimentel began his first year as an assistant coach for both Men and Women Cross-Country team in 2017. While assisting Head Coach Nellie, he helped to take the Women’s team to the Southern California Championships.

As a COD student, Luis volunteered with longtime Cross Country Coach Wendy Ansley in 2009 and 2010 when the Women’s team qualified for the State Championships.

Luis grew up in Mexico and then moved to the U.S. in 2004 to attend Coachella Valley High School where he participated in Cross Country and Track & Field. While in high school, he was recognized as a scholar-athlete for three consecutive years.

After High School, Luis attended College of the Desert and continued to run Cross Country. He was an all-conference runner, team captain, and was awarded MVP for two consecutive years. In 2008, Luis was an All-State runner finishing 14th in the State of California Championships.

After graduating from College of the Desert with an Associate of Arts in Hospitality Management and Business Administration, he went on to complete a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from California State University San Bernardino.

Besides coaching Cross Country, Luis works as the Food and Beverage Director since 2013 Marrakesh Country Club; a private golf club and the third oldest in the Coachella Valley.
