COD (1-1) grabbed their first win of the early 2020 season, by skewering the San Diego City Knights (0-1) in five innings, 19-0.
The Roadrunners would score three in the first, five in the third and eleven runs in the fourth to snag the lopsided win over their former Conference foes, in front of a happy home crowd.
Sophomore right handed starting pitcher Lauren Robinson (La Quinta H.S.) had a perfect day at the plate, going 3 for 3 with three runs scored and five runs batted in, all while batting out of the four hole in the lineup. Along with her dominance at the plate, Robinson tossed four innings of shutout ball, grabbing seven strikeouts in her first win of 2020.
Freshman left fielder Alejandra Ramirez (Rancho Mirage H.S.) had a 3 for 4 day at the plate, scoring four runs out of the two hole in the lineup and sophomore designated player Natalie Avila (Rancho Mirage H.S.) had a 2 for 4 day at the plate, scoring two runs and grabbing three RBI's out of the six hole in the lineup on the afternoon.
Freshman shortstop and leadoff hitter Davia Hines (Palm Springs H.S.) went 1 for 4 with a run scored and two RBI's and freshman second baseman Dakota Hansen (Myrtle Beach, SC) went 2 for 3 with four runs scored and an RBI.
Freshman first baseman Jaidyn Olson (Rancho Mirage H.S.) went 2 for 3 with a run scored and an RBI out of the five hole in the lineup and freshman third baseman Jessie Rios (La Quinta H.S.) scored twice.
Freshman right handed relief pitcher Nicole Rodriguez (Shadow Hills H.S.) closed out the game, tossing a scoreless fifth with one strike out.
