2017-18 Season in Review - COD Women's Basketball

COD Women's Basketball sophomores, forward Mercades Young (Moreno Valley Vista Del Lago) and guard Jada Toland (Indio Shadow Hills) were named second team and honorable mention All-Pacific Coast Athletic Conference respectively.

Under the tutelage of veteran coach Ronald "Skip" Parry, in his 7th season at the helm, Desert Women's Basketball ended the 2017-2018 season with a record of 2-22 overall and 0-8 in Conference, finishing fifth.

On the court, Young collected 11 double-digit scoring games and four games of 20 points or more. She finished tops on the team in scoring, with 282 points, leading the team in three pointers made, 50, and 3-point shooting percentage, 31.5% (50-173). Young was named second team all-Conference last season as well. She scored a season high 32 points on January 10 at Imperial Valley.

Toland was a scoring machine, collected 11 double-digit scoring games and six games of 12 points or more. She finished second on the team in points with 187, leading the team on visits to the free throw line with 77, and connecting on 47 of those attempts, and starting all 24 games this past season.
