COD Women’s Basketball: Toland signs letter with ULV

COD Women's Basketball sophomore starting guard Jada Toland (Indio Shadow Hills) has signed a letter of intent with the University of La Verne.

The 5-4 guard from Shadow Hills High School started all 24 games this past season, averaging 7.8 points per game. Toland was a scoring machine, collected 11 double-digit scoring games and six games of 12 points or more. She finished second on the team in points with 187, leading the team on visits to the free throw line with 77 and connecting on 47 of those attempts, with her highest scoring game taking place on December 16 in the consolation final of the COD Winter Classic, where Toland scored 18 points. Toland also played two years of Softball for the Roadrunners.

Under the tutelage of 2017-2018 head coach Ronald "Skip" Parry, in his 7th season at the helm, Desert Women's Basketball ended the 2017-2018 season with a record of 2-22 overall and 0-8 in Conference, finishing fifth.

The University of La Verne is located in La Verne, California which is about 30 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. The ULV Leopards play their home games at the Sports Pavilion and the team is coached by 2nd year head coach, Jason Pruitt. In 2017-18 season, the Leopards concluded the year with a 5-20 overall record and a 3-13 record in Conference play, finishing tied for eighth. The Leopards are in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) of the NCAA Division Three.
