COD (1-4) grabbed their first win of 2019, by splitting a back-to-back at the Chick fil-A Classic at Pasadena City College, knocking off the Imperial Valley Arabs (0-1), 57-48.

The Roadrunners would open the Chick fil-A Classic, taking on a former intra-Divisional Conference rival from the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC), Imperial Valley. The game would be tied at 10-10 at the end of the first quarter and then Desert would snag a four point lead right before halftime, 27-23. The Roadrunners would pull away late, winning their first game of the season. 57-48.

Freshman starting center Anastasia Reagins (Palm Springs H.S.) would lead all scorers with a season high 28 points, on 12 of 16 shooting, and her third double-double of the season with 17 total rebounds, along with three blocked shots.

Sophomore starting guard Marisa Givens (Palm Desert H.S.) made a huge contribution, adding 13 points on 5 of 11 shooting, and collecting her first double-double of the season with 11 boards, along with leading the team in steals with four. Freshman starting guard Geraldine Padua (Indio Shadow Hills) would add six points on 2 of 11 shooting and lead the team in assists with six in the win.

On day two, the Roadrunners would face another former PCAC-South foe, the San Diego City Knights (2-4) and Desert would keep the game close, as the Knights held a narrow lead at the break 37-33. But a big third and fourth quarter for San Diego City proved to be the difference, as the Roadrunners fell, 76-52.
