COD Women’s Golf wins at Ironwood, Rodriguez finishes 1st overall

COD Women's Golf participated in their eighth event of the 2018 season, as the team won and freshman Lilyanna Rodriguez (Palm Desert H.S.) collected her first individual 1st place finish in only her third event.

The Roadrunners sent six participants to its fifth event on the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC) calendar, which was hosted at the par-72 the Ironwood Country Club - North Course in Palm Desert.

All four PCAC teams participated in this event, with the Roadrunners hitting 61 strokes ahead of their nearest competition in their largest margin of victory so far this season, as Palomar finished with 365 points, Desert would finish with 304 points. The Roadrunners finished with the top three individually.

Rodriguez turned in the second best individual performance of the season, shooting a 72 for even par and winning the individual title, finishing three-strokes ahead of teammate sophomore Zoe Walker (Palm Desert Xavier Prep), who shot a 75.

Freshman Dagmar Urbankova (Brno, Czech Republic) shot a strong four-over 76, for her second best finish of the season and sophomore Natalie Brugler (Santa Cruz Soquel) nailed a nine-over 81 to finish fifth individually.

Freshman Emma Sorenson (Vancouver (WA) Prairie) turned a 16-over, 88 and sophomore Vivica Garcia (Thermal Coachella Valley) wrapped up the day for the Roadrunners, shooting a 99 for her third best finish of 2018.

COD will make their next appearance in the sixth PCAC event for 2018, at Sycuan Golf Resort in El Cajon on Monday, October 1.
