COD (5-6-1) grabbed a goal in the 37th minute by Alexi Mejia, but their opportunities fell just a bit short against the Grossmont Griffins of El Cajon (3-4-3), 3-1.

Pushing the pace, sophomore midfielder Alexi Mejia (La Quinta H.S.) was able to collect three shots on goal while freshman forward Reanna Rivera (La Quinta H.S.) put the pressure on the Griffins with four shots on goal.

Sophomore forward Jiana Guerrero (La Quinta H.S.) and freshman defender Victoria Relerford (Rancho Mirage H.S.) both forced their way with two shots on goal for the day.

Freshman goal keeper Marqisha Zamudio-Ontiveros (Thermal Coachella Valley) collected nine saves, keeping Grossmont scoreless in the second half. Although the Roadrunners defense was reignited for the remainder of the game, they were unable to catch Grossmont.
