COD Women's Soccer ties at San Diego Mesa, 0-0

COD Women's Soccer ties at San Diego Mesa, 0-0

What a wonderful San Diego evening for some Futbol, as traveled down to San Diego County once again for the fourth time this season. The contest was pretty evenly matched through the first 30 minutes then the game got a bit chippy as the Mesa team would receive a direct Red card going studs up into Desert starting Keeper Kaylin Eastman after the dust settled Eastman would remain in the game until halftime when she was in a great deal of pain and then was attended to by the trainers with as they analyzed the damage from the cleat marks on her rib-cage. So with only 10 players for the remainder of the match Mesa did not back down in fact some might say they played even better once they were a player short. However Desert matched their intensity and stayed focus on the defensive side of the ball. The fireworks were not just done yet however, after a questionable penalty kick was awarded to Mesa in the 87th minute. The match was literally saved at this point for the lady Roadrunners by second Keeper Marqisha Zamudio-Ontiveros, keeping "no pun" the Mesa Olympians off the scoreboard with her highlight penalty kick save preserving the third shutout of the season. The game had little time after these dramatic events, all in all both teams played hard and Desert walked out with a well earned result on the evening.
