COD Women’s Tennis opens 2019 by knocking off the Arabs, 6-3

COD (1-0; 1-0) opened up the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC) season against the Imperial Valley Arabs (0-5; 0-2), 7-2.

In doubles play, the team of sophomore Claudia Stepien (Palm Desert H.S.) and freshman Karla Munoz (Rancho Mirage H.S.) rolled in their match, 8-0. The team of freshman Vanessa Rodriguez (Palm Springs H.S.) and freshman Madison Burns (La Quinta H.S.) struggled in their match, falling 8-3 and the team of sophomore Annaya Zubick (Palm Springs H.S.) and sophomore Andrea Rapan (Thermal Coachella Valley) won in a walkover.

In singles play, Stepien won effortlessly in straight sets, 6-0 and 6-0 and Munoz struggled in her singles match, falling 6-0 and 6-3. Zubick also won easily 6-0 and 6-0 and Burns lost in straight sets, 6-0 and 6-0. Rapan and Rodriguez won in walkovers.

The next match for College of the Desert Women's Tennis will be on the road on February 12th at 2p, where they will continue Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC) by traveling to the San Diego City Knights.

College of the Desert defeated Imperial Valley College, 6-3 in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play at College of the Desert in Palm Desert.
