COD (9-2; 8-1) continues to roll, as they claimed their seventh straight win, knocking off the Southwestern Jaguars of Chula Vista (5-6; 5-5) twice in the span of 48 hours, with both scores being 8-1.

In Doubles play for Desert, the team of sophomore Claudia Stepien (Palm Desert H.S.) and freshman Karla Munoz (Rancho Mirage H.S.) remained undefeated in Conference play and 10-1 on the season as they caught the Jaguars, 8-0. In the second doubles victory for the Roadrunners, the team of sophomore Annaya Zubick (Palm Springs H.S.) and sophomore Andrea Rapan (Thermal Coachella Valley) grabbed their eighth win and fifth straight team win, sweeping by Southwestern, 8-0. The third doubles team of freshman Adriana Vargas (La Quinta H.S.) and freshman Vanessa Rodriguez (Palm Springs H.S.) won in a walkover.

In singles play, Stepien easily knocked off her opponent in straight sets, 6-0 and 6-0, adding to her undefeated record now standing at 11-0. Southwestern would take the next match as Desert would fall in straight sets 6-1 and 6-3. Zubick would sweep in her match, grabbing her sixth win in ten matches, 6-3 and 6-0. Rapan didn't even break a sweat as she collected her eighth win of the season and seventh win in a row, winning the match 6-0 and 6-0. Freshman Madison Burns (La Quinta H.S.) won her match in a hard fought battle, eventually pulling out her fourth straight singles win, 6-4 and 6-4. Rodriguez would in her match in a walkover.

The next final regular season match of 2019 for College of the Desert Women's Tennis will be in Palm Desert on April 2nd at 2p, where they will host a Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC) match against the Grossmont Griffins of La Mesa.

College of the Desert defeated Southwestern College, 8-1 in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play at College of the Desert in Palm Desert.
