Johnson and Capler Earn September Student Athletes of the Month

Congratulations to Dalaina Johnson from women's soccer and Arieon Capler from football for earning the College of the Desert September Student Athletes of the Month honors.

Women's Soccer freshman forward Dalaina Johnson from Cathedral City H.S., grabs her second consecutive SAM Award, started in 8 of 9 games during the month of September. The impact player scored 15 goals over those 9 games, including a 5-goal effort at home in a 9-0 win over the East Los Angeles Huskies. Those 15 goals in September placed her top two statewide for goals scored.

Football sophomore running back Arieon Capler from Palm Springs H.S. had two 100 yard plus games in the month of September, including 123 yards on 18 carries, as well as grabbing 5 catches for 22 yards at Glendale, as Desert defeated the Vaqueros for the first time in program history on September 24th. He also added a 52-yard passing touchdown in week one of the 2022 season.
