Sandy and Vela Earn October Student Athletes of the Month

Congratulations to Kaila Sandy from women's volleyball and Cesar Vela from football for earning the College of the Desert October Student Athletes of the Month honors.

Women's Volleyball sophomore outside hitter Kaila Sandy from La Quinta H.S., started in 8 of 9 games during the month of October. The impact player had 100 of her IEAC leading 262 kills in the month of October, giving her a Kills Per Set average of 3.70 for the month. Sandy set a career mark of 24 kills in at match against the LA Mission Eagles on October 7.

Football sophomore quarterback Cesar Vela from Rancho Mirage H.S. had 3 straight 200+ yard games to wrap up the month of October, including setting a career high for yardage on October 15, with 264 yards through the air in the middle of a rain storm, against Pasadena City. Props to the Roadrunners offensive line for only allowing one sack on Vela throughout the entire month of October.
