Diaz and Vela Earn November Student Athletes of the Month

Congratulations to Kianna Diaz from women's volleyball and Cesar Vela from football for earning the College of the Desert November Student Athletes of the Month honors.

Women's Volleyball sophomore setter Kianna Diaz from Palm Desert H.S., helped guide the Roadrunners to their first Conference title since 2007 and first playoff berth since 2007. The impact player had 145 of her IEAC leading 809 assists in the month of November, giving her an Assists Per Set average of 10.36 for the month. Diaz set a career mark of 55 set assists in a match at the Chaffey Panthers of Rancho Cucamonga on November 14 to wrap up the IEAC regular season schedule.

Football sophomore quarterback Cesar Vela from Rancho Mirage H.S., grabs his second consecutive SAM Award, had 2 of 3 games where he threw for 250+ yards to wrap up the month of November, in guiding the Roadrunners to their first Bowl Game since 2016. Props to the Roadrunners offensive line for only allowing one sack on Vela throughout the entire month of November.
