Welcome From COD's Athletic Director...

WELCOME FROM COD's ATHLETIC DIRECTOR...

I would like to welcome you to our community and another exciting year of Roadrunners Athletics. With 63 years of strong tradition and success, our student-athletes have worked hard in preparation for this year and their competitive seasons. In the 2021-22 school year, College of the Desert is poised and ready for another outstanding season of success academically and athletically. This edition of Roadrunners Athletics has a solid collection of student-athletes who have committed to continue the excellence exemplified throughout our college's history.

In the 2019-20 season of sport, while abbreviated due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Roadrunners excelled at the local and state level in both individual and team sports. Women's Golf had an amazing sixth place finish at the CCCAA State Finals and won the Orange Empire Conference. For Men's Soccer, this past season represented a series of firsts in program history, as well as claiming their second consecutive Conference title, and another trip to the SoCal Regional Playoffs. Women's Cross Country had 3 runners qualify for the CCCAA State Finals and Women's Volleyball had some huge milestone victories, including winning 9 of 10 matches from September 28th through November 15th. The Men’s Tennis team was ranked as the top team the state in the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings. The Beach Volleyball team had an undefeated “One’s” team prior to the pandemic closure and Softball also had some huge milestone victories, including winning 13 of 14 games from January 31st through February 21st. Men’s Basketball had their best season in 12 years and are among many wonderful stories from the 2019-2020 Winter and Spring sports season.

COD's athletic teams annually strive toward excellence in the classroom, in the field and court of play, and in the community. College of the Desert Athletics takes great pride in preparing student-athletes for their future endeavors in academics, athletics and life. This balance allows for our young women and men to have an opportunity to achieve their life goals and aspirations. This, coupled with the daily commitment from dedicated coaches and staff, demonstrates the comprehensive educational opportunities offered here at COD.

I encourage our Roadrunners family to respectfully partner with us in supporting this season's teams as they take on the journey of chasing their dreams and goals.
