COD Beach Volleyball sends Abrams/Alexander pair to State Championship

COD Beach Volleyball will send the team of Grace Abrams and Katie Alexander to the CCCAA Final Pairs Championship, which begins on May 12th at West Valley College in the Silicon Valley town of Saratoga.

State Playoffs Ticket Prices are as follows: General Admission is $12. Faculty, Staff, Children Under 12, Adults 60+ & Students w/ Valid A.S. card are $8. There are no guest passes allowed.

The Desert 1's team of freshman Grace Abrams (Fountain Hills (AZ) H.S.) and sophomore Katie Alexander (Yucca Valley H.S.) will be the sole Roadrunners representative at the CCCAA Championship. The team really turned up the intensity in the Conference and Regional Finals after going 6-14 over the course of the regular season. They opened up the SoCal Regional Pairs Championship with a win over the #20 seed from the Orange Coast Pirates, knocking off the OCC 3's team in an extra set thriller, 16-21, 21-18, 16-14. In total, the Abrams/Alexander pairs team played three matches on Friday and one more on Saturday, but the opening round victory was enough to secure a spot in Saratoga.

There are two "waves" of play, a morning wave and an afternoon wave, each with four individual pools featuring four pairs teams each. The team of Abrams/Alexander will be in the afternoon wave, beginning on Court #5. The North features 12 pairs teams and the South has 20. Each pairs team will play three contests on day one, with the top two teams from each pool advancing to Day Two.

The team of Abrams/Alexander taking their #15 seed from the South, opening up play facing the #6 seed from the North, a pairs team from the Cabrillo Seahawks of Aptos. Once that match concludes the Roadrunners will attempt to knock off a giant, the #3 seed from the South, a pairs team from the Ventura Pirates and, if necessary, their final afternoon match will be taking on the #11 seed from the South, a pairs team from the San Diego Mesa Olympians.
