COD Beach Volleyball sophomore 1's team member, Katie Alexander (Yucca Valley H.S.) has signed a letter of intent with University of Saint Katherine.

Alexander, from Yucca Valley H.S., who played both indoor and beach volleyball, was named Second Team All-Inland Empire Athletic Conference (IEAC) in her sophomore indoor season and Second Team All-South Coast Conference (SCC) in her sophomore beach season. Alexander, along with her pairs partner, freshman Grace Abrams (Fountain Hills (AZ) H.S.), comprised the 1's team for the Roadrunners. Both made an improbable run to the CCCAA Championship. They opened up the SoCal Regional Pairs Championship with a win over the #20 seed from the Orange Coast Pirates, knocking off the OCC 3's team in an extra set thriller, 16-21, 21-18, 16-14. The team of Abrams/Alexander then kicked off the CCCAA Pairs Championship with a win over the #6 seed from the Cabrillo Seahawks of Aptos, knocking off the Cabrillo 2's team in an extra set thriller, 21-15, 16-21, 19-17.

University of Saint Katherine is located in San Marcos, California, which is about 35 miles north of San Diego and about 95 miles southwest of College of the Desert. The USK Firebirds play at the Frazee Beach Volleyball Courts in Carlsbad and the team is coached by head coach, Lauren DeTurk, in her 3rd year with the Firebirds. In the 2023 season, the Firebirds concluded the year with a 10-10 overall record, with a 4-2 record in Conference play, finishing the season in 2nd place. USK is in the California Pacific Conference of NAIA.
