COD (17-12; 10-5) grabbed a walk-off win, when Dillon Baker clobbered a two out double to left, scoring two in the bottom of the ninth, as the Roadrunners swept the 3-game series over the Barstow Vikings (4-23; 2-11), 6-5.

Freshman right handed starting pitcher Matthew Sapakoff (Littleton, CO) made his second start and tenth appearance of the 2022 season, tossing two and two-thirds innings, only giving up a hit, but allowing four runs, with two walks, four hit batters and two strikeouts.

Freshman right handed relief pitcher Beto Beltran (Indio Shadow Hills) tossed six and a third in his second longest outing of the season, giving up a run and a walk, while striking out a season high seven batters in his fifth win of the season.

Freshman short stop Dillon Baker (Tampa (FL) Carrollwood Day School) went 2 for 3 out of the five hole in the lineup with two runs batted in on the walk-off winner in the bottom of the ninth.

Freshman third baseman Spencer Dickinson (Rancho Mirage H.S.) went 2 for 5 with a run scored and an RBI as he almost became the hero in the bottom of the ninth, as he crushed a fly ball that everyone thought was going to be a walk-off homer.

Sophomore center fielder William Owens (Crescent City, FL) went 2 for 4 with two runs scored in the leadoff spot, scoring the tying run from third base in the ninth and freshman right fielder Antonio Crews (Grayslake (IL) Central) went 2 for 5, scoring the winning run from second in the ninth.

Freshman first baseman Taisei Yamada (Kai (JPN) Japan Aviation)went 2 for 3 with a walk out of the seven hole in the lineup.

College of the Desert Baseball will continue Inland Empire Athletics Conference (IEAC) play by traveling to Victorville to face the Victor Valley Rams on Tuesday, April 5 at 2:30p. The next home game for the Roadrunners is April 7th at 2:30p, when the Victor Valley Rams will continue their season series with the Roadrunners.
