COD Baseball grabs 5th straight win, rolls past Rams, 4-3

COD (7-8; 4-0) clawed their way back into this game where strikeouts, key defensive plays and timely hitting were the difference, as the Roadrunners remained undefeated in Conference play by sneaking by the Victor Valley Rams of Victorville (3-9; 0-4), 4-3.

Sophomore second baseman Aiden Arriaga (La Quinta H.S.) had a 2 for 5 day at the plate and sophomore first baseman Adam Moser (Peoria (AZ) Sunrise Mountain) clobbered his second home run of the season, the 425 foot shot to center field tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the 5th. Freshman designated hitter Trevor Stowe (Buffalo (WY) H.S.) collected his first 3 hit game of the season, his 5th multi-hit game of 2024, going 3 for 4 with a run batted in. Freshman center fielder Jackson Martin (Regina (SK) Martin Collegiate) went 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and an RBI and freshman left fielder Alekzander Bautista (La Quinta H.S.) went 2 for 4 with an RBI for his first multi-hit game of the season.

Sophomore right-handed starting pitcher Braden Turner (Henderson (NV) Basic Academy) grabbed his third win of the year, tossing 5 and a third innings, striking out 4 and freshman left-handed relief pitcher Jacob Glazener (Apache Junction (AZ) H.S.) tossed 2/3rds of an inning. Freshman right-handed relief pitcher Colin Plain (Saskatoon (SK) Walter Murray Collegiate) collected his first save of the season, tossing three innings, striking out 6 on the afternoon.

The next contest for Desert is at home on Thursday, February 29th beginning at 2p, as the Roadrunners continue Conference play against the Victor Valley Rams of Victorville.
