COD Football sweeps Player of the Week Awards

COD Football has swept the Week One SCFA American Conference Mountain Division Player of the Week awards, winning Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams/All‐Purpose honors.

Those honored by the Southern California Football Association (SCFA) were freshman quarterback Tristan Swensen (Salem (UT) Salem Hills), sophomore linebacker Austin Holt (Palatka, FL) and freshman kicker/punter Luis Castellanos (Cathedral City H.S.).

Winning the award for Offensive Player of the Week, Swensen led the team, going 14 of 30 for 160 yards and the only score of the night for the Roadrunners, a 75 yard pass to freshman wide receiver Tyius Evans (Rockford (AL) Central of Coosa Co.) with 11:44 left in the fourth quarter.

Winning the award for Defensive Player of the Week, Holt led the team with eight total tackles, including four solo and 2.5 tackles for loss, totaling a loss of five yards on the evening.

Winning the award for Special Teams/All‐Purpose Player of the Week, Castellanos was very busy last Saturday night as he had 9 punts, totaling 307 yards with a ling of 46 and two kick offs totaling 110, including a touchback and connecting on his only extra point attempt on the evening.

The next game for the Roadrunners will be this Saturday, September 9, at L.A. Valley College to take on the Monarchs at 7 p.m.
