COD Football: Williams named PCAC Athlete of the Week

COD Football freshman running back Tony Williams (Indio Shadow Hills) was named the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference's (PCAC) Honorable Mention Male Athlete of the Week for the week of October 16th.

This is the second season of competition in the PCAC for COD.

According to the release, issued by PCAC Sports Information Director, Tom Saxe, "Williams rushed for 207 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries and tacked on a 7-yard reception as the Roadrunners won a rivalry game from Mt. San Jacinto 43-36. COD won the teams' Mountain Conference opener by scoring with 11 seconds remaining."

The effort by Williams was the best single game performance this season so far. The Desert Offensive Line opened up large holes, helping Williams average 8 yards per carry. In addition, Williams' opening score in the game was also his longest gain of the day, 62 yards, with 8:48 left in the first quarter, helping the Roadrunners to their fourth straight win and retain the coveted Palms-to-Pines Trophy.
