COD Football falls in Palms-To-Pines overtime to the Eagles, 41-34

COD (4-5; 2-2) took an early lead, but in the 51st Palms-To-Pines Trophy game, anything can happen and the Mt. San Jacinto Eagles (7-2; 2-2) scored 20 unanswered points to close out the game as the Roadrunners fell in overtime, 41-34.

Sophomore linebacker Malik Ashford (Detroit, MI Belleville) led the team in total tackles with 14, including 4 solo, grabbed 1.5 sacks and 3.5 tackles for loss, totaling a loss of 13 yards, plus a broken up pass and a quarterback hurry on the evening.

The Roadrunners defense was on fire all game as they chased around the very mobile Eagles quarterback, sacking him seven times for a total loss of nearly 50 yards in offense. Along with Ashford, five different defenders got into the sack show.

Sophomore running back Tony Williams, Jr. (Indio Shadow Hills) had his third best rushing game of his career with the Roadrunners, carrying the ball 32 times for 195 yards and a score.
