COD Men’s Basketball: Jones signs letter with Westcliff

COD Men's Basketball sophomore guard Joshua Jones (Moreno Valley Valley View) has signed a letter of intent with Westcliff University.

The 6-5, 185 pound guard, played in all 28 games this past season, starting 22 of those games and averaging 8.9 points per game. While Jones played his freshman season with Citrus College, he had a spectacular sophomore tilt with the Roadrunners, finishing the season with 250 points and 148 total rebounds. Jones had 13 games where he scored in the double digits, with his best game taking place on January 2 at home against Palo Verde, where Jones scored 22 points.

Jones will join former Roadrunners, guard Gunnar Mogolis (Palm Desert H.S.) and forward Anthony Ogrodnick (Lafayette (CO) Centaurus) with the Westcliff Warriors.

Under the tutelage of head coach Trent Skinner, in his 2nd season, Desert Men's Basketball ended the 2019-2020 season with a record of 16-12 overall and 8-8 in Inland Empire Athletic Conference play, finishing atop a three-way tie for fifth.

Wescliff University is located in Irvine, California. The Westcliff Warriors play their home games at Santiago Canyon College and the team is coached by veteran head coach, James Larson. In 2019-20 season, the Warriors concluded the year with a 4-24 overall record. The Warriors are in the California Pacific Conference (CalPac) of the NAIA.
