COD Men’s Basketball gets revenge, sinking the Pirates, 95-85

COD (5-16; 2-7) returned the favor of an early season loss to their intra-County rivals from the East, as the Roadrunners had 4 of 5 starters in double figures, knocking off the Palo Verde Pirates of Blythe (4-16; 2-7), 95-85.

Sophomore starting center Garrett Hayden (Palm Desert H.S.), had his best game as a Roadrunner, leading all scorers with 30 points, on 13 of 17 shooting, and 17 boards, 10 defensively, for the 6th double-double of the season for "Big Dog H." in tonight's win. Freshman starting forward Rickey Adam Bell (Twentynine Palms H.S.), had his second-best night of his career, scoring 23 points, on 10-19 shooting and 8 boards. Freshman starting guard Isaiah Robinson Williams (Perris H.S.) added 12 points, going 7 of 9 from the free throw line and contributing 8 assists. Freshman starting guard Jaylen Carter (Dearborn Heights (MI) Robichaud) was one assist short of his first double-double, scoring 10 points, going 4 of 6 from the charity stripe, while leading the team in assists with 9 and freshman starting guard Isaiah Goad (Palm Springs H.S.) added 9 points on 4 of 6 shooting, leading the team in steals with 3.

The next contest for Desert is on Wednesday, January 25th at the San Bernardino Valley Indians. The next home game for the Roadrunners is on Saturday, February 4th at 3:00p against the Barstow Vikings.
