COD (6-18; 3-9) received some great contributions at just the right time to stave off a last-ditch effort by the visitors, as the Roadrunners swept the season series over the Barstow Vikings (1-23; 0-12), 85-81.
Freshman guard Loren Beamon (Desert Hot Springs H.S.) was clutch in the closing seconds of the game hitting 3 of 4 free throws to put the game out of reach with less than 2 seconds left in the game. Freshman starting guard Isaiah Goad (Palm Springs H.S.) had his second-best game of the season, leading COD with 17 points on 6 of 10 shooting, including going an incredible 4 of 6 from beyond the arc. Freshman starting forward Rickey Adam Bell (Twentynine Palms H.S.) collected his fifth double-double of the season, scoring 16 points on 6 of 15 shooting and grabbing 10 total rebounds, 8 defensive, on the afternoon. Freshman guard Justin McWay (Palm Desert Xavier College Prep) leapt off of the bench to contribute 12 points on 5 of 8 shooting, going 2 of 5 from beyond three-point range.
The next contest for Desert is hosting the Chaffey Panthers of Rancho Cucamonga on Wednesday, February 8 at 7p.
