COD Men’s Basketball knocks off the Desert Warriors, 85-62

COD (3-5) grabbed their second consecutive win, this time with an explosive second half on the road, as the Roadrunners used a career high 29-points from Isaiah Goad off of the bench to defeat the Imperial Valley Desert Warriors (0-6), 85-62.

Sophomore guard Isaiah Goad (Palm Springs H.S.) leapt off of the bench to lead all scorers with career high 29 points on 12 of 14 shooting, going an impressive 5 of 6 from beyond three-point range, adding six total boards. Sophomore starting forward Jermayn Baxter (Indianapolis (IN) Decatur Central) contributed 19 points on 7 of 14 shooting and was near perfect from the free throw line, going 4 of 6, he tied for the team lead in total rebounds (8) and steals (3) and led the team in assists (7). Sophomore starting guard Luke Mathis (Redlands East Valley) added 11 points on 4 of 8 shooting, going 3 of 7 from beyond the arc and freshman starting guard Jamerson McClendon (Indio H.S.) tied for the team lead in total rebounds (8) and steals (3) and led the team in blocked shots (3). Sophomore forward Raymond Benjamin (La Quinta H.S.) had two blocked shots.

The Roadrunners next game will be on the road as they face the Santa Barbara City Vaqueros in the opening round of the SBCC Holiday Classic on Thursday, December 7 at 5p and the next home game for Desert will be on Wednesday, December 20 at 7p as the Roadrunners open up Inland Empire Athletic Conference play against the Palo Verde Pirates of Blythe.
