COD Men's Golf opened up the 2023 season with a tough tournament, as the team finished 2nd in the 12-team tournament with Jeremy Kallmann and Willis Panzarello collected a tie for 5th place individual finish for the tournament.

The Roadrunners sent six participants to its first event, which was hosted at La Purisima Golf Club in Lompoc. The tournament was originally scheduled as a multi-day event, but damage to one of the competition sites during recent rains in the Ventura County region limited this tournament to a one-day event. This opening tournament really brought out the heavy hitters, as four of the eight 2022 CCCAA State finalists were represented, along with five Western State Conference teams and three NorCal teams. The Roadrunners were one of four representatives from the Orange Empire Conference at this event. Desert would finish with 409 putting them in 2nd place, 14-strokes back of the tournament champion, Saddleback Gauchos and four strokes ahead of Glendale Vaqueros.

Palm Desert H.S. alums, Kallmann and Panzarello would lead the way for the Roadrunners, both of them shooting a 78 and tying for 5th individually at the tournament. Sophomore Hayato Ito (Yachiyo (JPN) Yachiyo Shoin) shot a 10-over, 82 and freshman Yuo Torii (Montverde (FL) Academy) shot an 85. Sophomore Ivan Sablan (Chalan-Pago-Ordot (Guam) Father Dueñas Memorial) shot an 86 and sophomore Austin McNeil (Shakopee (MN) H.S.) shot a 91 to wrap up the event for the Roadrunners.

COD will make their next appearance at Bermuda Dunes Country Club in Bermuda Dunes on Tuesday, February 7 at 1:15p as they host the Korean National Team in a scrimmage.
