COD Men’s Golf grabs strong 2nd place finish in San Jacinto

COD Men's Golf had a "card off" to determine second place, as the team finished 2nd in the 9-team tournament with Jeremy Kallmann collecting a tie for 5th place individual finish for the tournament.

The Roadrunners sent six participants to its second event, the Mt. San Jacinto Eagle Classic, which was hosted at Soboba Springs Golf Course in San Jacinto. Desert would finish with 389 putting them in 2nd place, 14-strokes back of the tournament champion, Saddleback Gauchos and tied with the Riverside City Tigers. The tie breaker was at the sixth man score, which the Roadrunners edged out 84 to 89.

Palm Desert H.S. alums, Kallmann and Willis Panzarello would lead the way for the Roadrunners, both of them shot a season best. Kallmann shooting a 2-over 74 and tying for 5th individually at the tournament and Panzarello shooting a 5-over 77. Sophomore Cameron Winslow (Palm Desert H.S.) and sophomore Ryuki Torii (Matsuyama (JPN) Nitta Seiun Secondary) both shot a 6-over 78 and freshman Yuo Torii (Montverde (FL) Academy) tied a season low, shooting an 82. Sophomore Ivan Sablan (Chalan-Pago-Ordot (Guam) Father Dueñas Memorial) shot an 84 to win the "card off" and to wrap up the event for the Roadrunners.

COD will make their next appearance at Cottonwood Golf Club in El Cajon on Wednesday, February 22 at 11a as they participate in the Coyote Invitational.
