COD Men’s Golf: 3 players shoot season lows as Roadrunners take title in El Cajon

COD Men's Golf faced brutally cold conditions with savage wind gusts, as the team finished 1st in the 8-team tournament with Yuo Torii and Ivan Sablan collecting a tie for 2nd place individual finish for the tournament.

The Roadrunners sent six participants to its third event, the Coyote Invitational, which was hosted at Cottonwood Golf Club in El Cajon. Desert would finish with 375 points, putting them in 1st place, 7-strokes ahead of the Saddleback Gauchos.

Sophomore Ivan Sablan (Chalan-Pago-Ordot (Guam) Father Dueñas Memorial) and freshman Yuo Torii (Montverde (FL) Academy) would lead the way for the Roadrunners. Both shot a season low, an impressive 1-over, 73 on the day and tying for 2nd individually at the tournament. Sophomore Willis Panzarello (Palm Desert H.S.) also shooting a season low, firing a 3-over 75. Palm Desert H.S. alums, Cameron Winslow and Jeremy Kallmann, both shot a 5-over 77 and their second lowest score of the season. Sophomore Ryuki Torii (Matsuyama (JPN) Nitta Seiun Secondary) tied his second lowest score of the season, shooting a 6-over 78 to wrap up the event for the Roadrunners.

COD will wrap up non-Conference play, making their next appearance at Victoria Country Club in Riverside on Monday, February 27 at 11a as they participate in the Riverside City Invitational.
