COD Men’s Golf: 4 collect best scores of season as Desert wins at Riverside

COD Men's Golf started out with decent weather, which degraded quickly into cold temps and rain, as the team finished 1st in the 16-team tournament with Yuo Torii collecting a tie for 1st place individual finish for the tournament.

The Roadrunners sent eight participants to its third and final non-Conference event, the Riverside City Invitational, which was hosted at the historic Victoria Country Club in Riverside. Desert would finish with 371 points, putting them in 1st place, 6-strokes ahead of the Santa Barbara City Vaqueros.

The Torii brothers, sophomore Ryuki and freshman Yuo, dominated as they led the way for the Roadrunners, both hitting season bests. Yuo nailed an even par 72 and Ryuki grabbed an equally impressive 1-over, 73 at the historic course. Palm Desert H.S. alums, Jeremy Kallmann and Willis Panzarello, once again shot season bests, as Kallmann shot a 1-over 73 and Panzarello shot a 2-over 74 in the cold and rainy weather. Sophomore Ivan Sablan (Chalan-Pago-Ordot (Guam) Father Dueñas Memorial) shot a 7-over 79 and sophomore Cameron Winslow (Palm Desert H.S.) shot a 9-over 81 to wrap up the afternoon for the Roadrunners.

Freshman Se Min Song (Haeundae-gu (KOR) Changwon Nam) played in his first event of the season, participating as an individual and shooting a 7-over 79. Freshman Arri Arbaugh (La Quinta H.S.), also participated as an individual and shot an 83.

COD will make their next appearance at Bear Valley Country Club in Victorville on Monday, March 13 at 9a as they open up Orange Empire Conference - Inland Division play.
