COD Men’s Golf opens up Conference play with win at Victorville

COD Men's Golf continued their upward trend and began Conference play with a four-stroke win, as the team finished 1st with Willis Panzarello collecting a tie for 3rd place individual finish for the event.

The Roadrunners sent six participants to fifth event of the 2023 season, beginning Orange Empire Conference-Inland Division play, which was hosted at the Bear Valley Country Club in Victorville. Desert would finish with 376 points, putting them in 1st place, 4-strokes ahead of the Riverside City Tigers.

Sophomore Willis Panzarello (Palm Desert H.S.) led the way for the Roadrunners, shooting his best score of the season, a one-over 73 and finishing tied for 3rd individually at the event. Sophomore Ryuki Torii (Matsuyama (JPN) Nitta Seiun Secondary) shot his second-best score of the season with a two-over 74 and finishing tied for 5th individually. His brother, Yuo, shot a 3-over 75 for his third-third best score of the season and sophomore Jeremy Kallmann (Palm Desert H.S.) shot a 4-over 76 for his third-third best score of the season. Sophomore Ivan Sablan (Chalan-Pago-Ordot (Guam) Father Dueñas Memorial) also shot his third-third best score of the season, shooting a 6-over 78 and sophomore Austin McNeil (Shakopee (MN) H.S.) shot his second-best score of the season an 82 to wrap up the afternoon for the Roadrunners.

COD will make their next appearance at The Country Club at Soboba Springs in San Jacinto on Wednesday, March 29 at 10a as they continue Orange Empire Conference - Inland Division play.
