COD Men’s Golf: 3 players shoot season lows as Roadrunners take title in San Jacinto

COD Men's Golf continues to roll through Conference play as Roadrunners ran past the field in their second Conference event of the season, with Jacob Stacey and Yuo Torii individually finishing 1st and 2nd for the event.

The Roadrunners sent six participants to eighth event of the 2024 season, second event in Orange Empire Conference-Inland Division play, which was hosted at The Country Club at Soboba Springs in San Jacinto. Desert would finish with 392 points, putting them in 1st place, 6-strokes ahead of the Mt. San Antonio Mounties.

For the first time this season, the Roadrunners had to compete in more familiar temperatures as all prior Conference events have occurred in wet and windy conditions. Freshman Jacob Stacey (Twentynine Palms H.S.) played his best round of golf all season, dropping 5 strokes from his previous season low and snagging a 1-over 73 to claim first place individually. Sophomore Yuo Torii (Montverde (FL) Montverde Academy) who had been unavailable the previous two events, returned with a vengeance, nailing a season low 3-over 75. Sophomore Se Min Song (Haeundae-gu (KOR) Changwon Nam) tied a season low, with a 4-over 76 and sophomore Tyler Cunningham-Watson (Palm Desert H.S.) tied for his third-best score of the season, shooting an 82. Freshman Jayson Bittner (Rancho Mirage H.S.) tied for his second-best score of the season, shooting an 86 and sophomore Ryln Hadley, Jr. (Palm Desert H.S.) shot an 87 to wrap up the afternoon for the Roadrunners.

COD will make their next appearance at the Bermuda Dunes Country Club in Bermuda Dunes on Monday, March 25 at 1p as they host their only Orange Empire Conference - Inland Division match of the 2024 season.
