COD Men’s Soccer will travel to #7 Oxnard Saturday in SoCal Quarterfinals

COD Men's Soccer has claimed the #10 seed and will be on the road in the opening round of the SoCal Regional playoffs after winning their third consecutive Conference Title.

State Playoffs Ticket Prices are as follows: General Admission is $12. Faculty, Staff, Children Under 12, Adults 60+ & Students w/ Valid A.S. card are $8. The game will take place on the campus of Oxnard College and will kick off at the Track / Soccer Field (aka "The Condors Nest") at 2 p.m.

You can purchase your tickets in advance by going to: https://oxnard.vbotickets.com/events  or at tickets may be purchased at the gate. Fans must screen prior to entry onto the Oxnard campus and all guests, regardless of vaccination status, must wear a mask.

Under the tutelage of first-year head coach Manuel "Pato" Hurtado, the #10 seeded Roadrunners Men's Soccer team ended the 2021 season claiming their 7th Conference championship and the second consecutive Inland Empire Athletic Conference (IEAC) Coach of the Year award for a Desert head coach.

Hurtado was awarded as Coach of the Year finishing the regular season, with a 12-5-3 overall record and a 6-2 conference record, wrapping up the regular season winning 7 of their final 9 games. They were rewarded with the 10 seed in the Southern California Regional Playoffs.

Desert will face off with an Oxnard Condors team that finished the regular season with a record of 13-2-5, the Condors ended the 2021 season as Champions of the Western State Conference-North Division (WSC-North) with a record of 8-0-2. The Condors started the season 5-2-3 and have only one loss in their last 15 games.

Oxnard finished the 2019 season as Champs of the WSC-North with a record of 6-1-3, with an overall record of 17-4-3. The Condors were most recently in the playoffs in the 2019 season entering the Southern California Regional's as the 6th seed, Oxnard lost at top seeded Cerritos in the final round of Regional's, 4-1. The Condors are coached by Ross Greaney in his 12th season.

Desert and Oxnard have played each other 11 times since 1983, the most recent time being in 2019 in the first round of the CCCAA SoCal Regionals, accumulating an overall record of 4-5-2 with a 1-2 record at Oxnard. The last time Desert defeated the Condors was on September 19, 2001 at Oxnard, where the Roadrunners won 2-1.

The winner of Saturday's first-round contest will advance to face the winner of No. 15 Norco Mustangs and No. 2 Cerritos Falcons on Tuesday (Nov. 23) or Wednesday (Nov. 24). Three wins are needed to advance to the CCCAA Soccer State Championship on Dec. 3 & Dec. 5 at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut.
