COD Men’s Soccer: Quintero signs letter with Cal State Fullerton

COD Men's Soccer forward Jorge Quintero (Thermal Coachella Valley) has signed a letter of intent with Cal State Fullerton.

Quintero, from Coachella Valley H.S. in Thermal, was named the Inland Empire Athletic Conference (IEAC) MVP, joining an elite group of Desert Men's Soccer players as the Roadrunners have won the last three consecutive Conference MVP awards. The 5-foot 7, 140-pound freshman played in all 21 games for the Roadrunners in 2021, starting in 18 of them and was the state leader in goals for most of the season, ending the year in a four-way tie for fourth in the state, with 17 goals. Quintero had five game winning goals and was 3 for 3 on penalty kicks in 2021. He had four multi-goal games, including a "hat trick" at home against Imperial Valley on September 7. Quintero's biggest game winning goal of 2021 was a 1-0 victory at Norco, where the Roadrunners defeated Norco, on the road, for the first time in program history.

Quintero will join Roadrunners alums, Alejandro Pimentel and Jose Reyes, in the navy blue and orange, along with former COD Men's Soccer coach Enrique Cardenas, who led the Roadrunners for three seasons, from 2017 to 2019. Cardenas is an assistant coach with the Titans.

California State University, Fullerton is located in Fullerton, California, which is about 9 miles northeast of Disneyland and about 35 miles southeast of Los Angeles. The CSUF Titans play at Titan Stadium and the team is coached by head coach, George Kuntz, in his 7th year with the Titans. In the 2021 season, the Titans concluded the year with a 3-11-3 overall record, with a 1-7-1 record in Conference play, finishing the season in 10th place. CSUF is in the Big West Conference of NCAA – Division I.
