COD Men’s Soccer: Costagliola, Teran & Uribe sign their letters with Providence Christian

COD Men's Soccer defender Vincenzo Costagliola (Palm Springs H.S.), defender Jason Teran (La Quinta H.S.) and midfielder Gilberto Uribe (Thermal Coachella Valley) have signed a letter of intent with Providence Christian College.

Under the tutelage of first-year head coach Manuel "Pato" Hurtado, the #10 seeded Roadrunners Men's Soccer team ended the 2021 season claiming their 7th Conference championship and the second consecutive Inland Empire Athletic Conference (IEAC) Coach of the Year award for a Desert head coach.

Costagliola from Palm Springs H.S., was named First team All-IEAC, helping anchor a defense that collected five shutouts in 2021. The 6-foot 2, 185-pound sophomore played in 17 of 21 games for Desert, starting 15 of them.

Teran from La Quinta H.S., was named Second team All-IEAC, helping anchor a defense that collected five shutouts in 2021. The 6-foot, 150-pound sophomore played in 16 of 21 games for Desert, starting 15 of them.

Uribe, the 5-foot 8, 165-pound sophomore from Coachella Valley H.S. in Thermal, played in 19 of 21 games for Desert, starting 12 of them.

Roadrunners Men's Soccer also collected some notable victories and games in 2021 as they defeated Norco, on the road, for the first time in program history, played Golden West for the first time since 2004 and played LA Mission for the first time since 1995.

Providence Christian College is located in Pasadena, which is about 11 miles northeast of downtown Los Angeles and about 120 miles west of College of the Desert. The Providence Christian Sea Beggars play at Kare Youth League Field in Irwindale and the team is coached by head coach, Franklyn Joseph, in his 1st year with the Sea Beggars. In the 2021 season, the Sea Beggars concluded the year with a 1-12-1 overall record, with a 1-10-1 record in Conference play, finishing the season in 5th place. Providence Christian is in the California Pacific Conference – South Division (Cal Pac - South) of NAIA.
