COD had three runners participate in the first event of the 2021 season at College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita for the Canyons Cross Country Invitational, where participants finished in 4th, 10th and 26th place on the 4 mile course.

Grabbing the top spot for Desert in Santa Clarita was freshman Amelio Chio (Cathedral City H.S.), collecting 4th place with a time of 22:39.66.

Also finishing in the top 10 was freshman Jonathan Pellior (Palm Desert H.S.), collecting 10th place with a time of 24:09.81.

Freshman Mason Rivas (Palm Desert H.S.), who finished 26th, collecting a time of 26:23.94.

The next event for Desert is at the Coach Downey XC Classic at Morley Field in San Diego on September 24th at 10 a.m.
