COD Men’s Cross Country: Chio finishes 2nd at the IEAC Championship

COD had three runners participate in the fifth and final regular season event of the 2021 season at Xavier College Prep in Palm Desert for the Inland Empire Athletic Conference Championship, collecting finishes of 2nd, 15th and 16th on the 4 mile course.

Grabbing the top spot for Desert in Palm Desert was freshman Amelio Chio (Cathedral City H.S.), collecting a 2nd place finish, crossing the line with a time of 22:41. With his 2nd place finish, Chio was named All-IEAC and was automatically selected to participate in the CCCAA SoCal Regional Championships.

Freshman Pablo Guadiana (Rancho Mirage H.S.), who finished 15th, collecting his best time of the season with a time of 26:23.

Freshman Mason Rivas (Palm Desert H.S.) wrapped up the race for Desert placing 16th and recieviving a time of 26:23.

The next event for Amelio is at the SoCal Regional Championships at Irvine Regional Park in Orange on November 5th at 10 a.m.
