COD Women's Basketball knocks off the Wolverines, 49-31

COD (1-7; 1-1) grabbed their first win of the season, with two of the five starters in double figures, Desert pushed past the winless San Bernardino Valley Wolverines (0-7; 0-2), 49-31.

The win marks the first win for the Roadrunners since February 15, 2020, a 64-57 overtime win at home versus the Copper Mountain Fighting Cacti. Desert have spent the past two seasons out on hiatus, largely due to the pandemic.

Freshman starting guard Delia Orduno (Rancho Mirage H.S.) co-led all scorers with 13 points and 3 steals and freshman starting forward Jacqueline Orozco (Anza Hamilton) co-led all scorers with 13 points adding 2 steals. Freshman starting guard Carissma Williams (Indio Shadow Hills) had 12 points and 3 steals in the win.

The next contest for Desert is on Tuesday, December 20th at 4p where the Roadrunners will travel to the Grossmont Tournament to face the Cuesta Cougars of San Luis Obispo.
