COD Women’s Golf grabs 4th place finish at Desert Invitational, Preece is 3rd

COD Women's Golf began the 2022 season hosting the inaugural Desert Invitational, barely beating a heat wave to get in the two-day event, the team finished 4th and sophomore Demi Preece (Imperial H.S.) collected a 3rd place individual finish.

The Roadrunners sent six participants to its first event. The heat and humidity were slightly subdued on day one, but were on full blast on the final day as Desert opened 2022 at home at the par-72 The Lakes Country Club in Palm Desert. The inaugural event featured six of the eight teams that were in the 2021 CCCAA Women's Golf State Championship, including the State Champions.

Desert would finish with 348 points on day one and 347 on the final day, totaling 695 points for the tournament, which was 26 strokes ahead of fifth place finisher, the Sierra Wolverines of Rocklin. The Modesto Blue Devils would win the event with 626 points. Preece led the way for the Roadrunners, shooting six-over 78 on day one and dropping two strokes on day two, with a four-over 76, for a total score of 154, enough to finish 3rd individually.
