COD Women’s Golf opens up OEC play with 3rd place, Preece finishes 4th

COD Women's Golf kicked off Conference play on the 140th Labor Day Holiday by hosting the first event on the schedule, in the middle of a west coast heat wave, the team finished 3rd and sophomore Demi Preece (Imperial H.S.) collected a 4th place individual finish.

The Roadrunners sent six participants to its second event. The heat and humidity were on full blast on the as Desert was given the duties of opening up Orange Empire Conference play at home at the par-72 Ironwood Country Club in Palm Desert. Desert would finish with 355 points, which was 9 strokes ahead of fourth place finisher, the Fullerton Hornets. The Roadrunners were just three strokes short of overtaking second place, Orange Coast. The Saddleback Bobcats (formerly Gauchos) of Mission Viejo would win the event with 324 points.

Preece led the way for the Roadrunners, shooting seven-over 79, good enough to finish 4th individually. Then the Roadrunners would have a three-way tie for second on the team, as freshman Karla Garcia (Palm Desert H.S.), sophomore Yvonne Pretorius (La Quinta H.S.) and freshman Sam Miller (Valley Center H.S.) all finished with a 92.
